Why do you charge for premium accounts?
Running a photo sharing site that supports millions of visitors per month requires
specialized hardware, software and personnel. We maintain a large number of disk
storage servers to store photo images. We also support a lot of fast bandwidth
to enable friends and family to view photos online. The low annual fee for the
Premium account helps finance operations and fund ongoing projects to improve
the photo sharing experience on PictureTrail.
I paid to upgrade my account on another photo sharing
site but they went out of business soon after. Will you continue to be in business?
Yes, we plan to be in business a very long time. Whereas several other photo sharing
sites took on large debt to finance their growth, PictureTrail has grown carefully
and under tight fiscal control. Now with over 2 million unique visitors per month,
we are rated one of the top 5 photo sharing sites on the net. We have grown by
word of mouth from our base of satisfied members rather than expensive marketing
campaigns. We maintain a strong financial position and we currently operate with
zero outstanding debt. It is because of our strong financial condition and the
site's considerable momentum and traffic that we feel PictureTrail will be around
for a very long time to come!
What are the member account types?
The Free Basic account allows up to 36 photos or 20Mb disk storage, whichever
is used up first. The Premium account for $19.95/year allows up to 500 photos
or up to 50Mb disk storage whichever comes first. Additional photo storage is
available for $10.00/year for each additional 500 photos. Click
Here for the full comparison chart.
What payment options are available?
You can pay for your Premium account through our secure online credit card checkout
page. If you don't have a credit card, click on the "No Credit Card?" link on
the credit card payment page for instructions to mail in a check or money order
or to pay using Paypal.
Will I lose my free account and photos if I don't pay
for an upgrade?
Once your account is switched from the Intro Account level to the Free Basic level,
it will continue to be fully viewable and accessible online for some time. During
this time you can continue to manage your albums and photos but you won't be able
to add more photos to your albums until you upgrade your account or reduce the
number of photos to below the photo and disk space limit for the Free Basic account
level in order to make room to upload new photos. But the Free Basic account will
eventually be phased out if it is not upgraded to the Premium Account level. You
will receive email notices during the phase out process and a notice will be posted
in the members area of each account as well.
How much disk space will I have after I upgrade.
Say for instance you have 240 photos in your account that takes up 15Mb disk space.
Once you upgrade to the Premium account level which allows 500 pics / 50Mb, you
will have room to add 260 more photos to your account or use up 35Mb more disk
space, whichever comes first.
I currently have several accounts and would like to
combine them to a single account and upgrade that single account. How can I do
that?
First upgrade one of the free accounts. Then in log into the member area of each
free account and click on More Options, in the top tabs bar. Then click
on Copy Pics To Another Account. This will allow you to copy photos from
the free account to the Premium account.
